Abstract:

This paper describes the design of our 2.5 Gb/s electro-absorption modulator integrated laser (EML) optical transmitter and its transmission in the long-haul wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) system with an erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA). The experimental results of multi-channel data transmission over 160-km standard single mode fiber (SSMF) successfully demonstrate the bit error rate (BER) well below 10-9 and power penalty within the standard limit...
