Abstract:

A hybrid optical fiber delayer based on stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) slow light is proposed for dual-channel systems. It features two rings as delay lines, where one is an active ring with a Brillouin amplifier and the other is a passive ring. It combines SBS slow light delay with linear transmission delay, which extends the delay range in a great amount. A maximum SBS slow light delay of 468 ns and the capability for tunable delay of over 10 µs for pulses of nanoseconds are demonstrated...
