The NOPS Series High-Speed Polarization Scrambler is an electro-optic device engineered for ultra-fast polarization scrambling, low optical insertion loss, and exceptional non-mechanical long-term reliability. Its innovative design incorporates multiple electro-optic crystal rotators arranged at 45° angular intervals, each driven at a distinct fixed frequency to achieve rapid, comprehensive polarization scrambling across the entire Poincaré sphere. Although three rotators are theoretically sufficient for full polarization scrambling, the NOPS Series employs four rotators as a standard configuration to significantly enhance performance, broaden the operating temperature and wavelength ranges, and minimize the residual degree of polarization (DOP). For more demanding applications, configurations incorporating up to eight electro-optic crystal plates are available, further improving scrambling uniformity, reducing residual DOP, and extending the operating wavelength coverage to 200 nm. The operation speed is independent tot eh number of plates. Housed in a compact aluminum enclosure, the NOPS Series offers convenient plug-and-play operation without requiring calibration or adjustment. Simply connect the optical fibers and supply 12 VDC using the included power adapter. The bidirectional design incorporates thermal stabilization and integrated heat dissipation to ensure consistent performance following a 10-minute warm-up period. With no moving parts, high-speed operation, and maintenance-free performance, the NOPS Series provides a reliable and versatile polarization scrambling solution for optical communications, fiber-optic sensing, interferometry, and advanced optical test and measurement applications.
