A Dispersion Compensation Module is a passive optical component used to mitigate signal degradation caused by chromatic dispersion in fiber optic networks. It introduces negative dispersion by using special dispersion compensation fibers to counterbalance the positive dispersion accumulated over standard single-mode G.652 fiber. DCMs are essential in high-speed metro core, regional, and long-haul DWDM transmission systems, effectively restoring signal integrity across the entire C and L bands.
