Manual Ultra-Broadband Fiber Optic Grating Tunable Filter – 0.7nm Linewidth

This series of Manual Grating-Based Fiber Optic Tunable Filters features an exceptional wide tuning range of over 150nm, a low insertion loss of approximately 1.5dB, and a narrow line width of around 0.7nm. Wavelength tuning is conveniently achieved by rotating a grating using a micrometer. Based on proprietary optics, Agiltron offers high stability, both polarization-independent and polarization-dependent operation, and high off-band suppression. The wavelength passing band is tunable continuously over a wide spectral range. This device presents a highly cost-effective solution for laboratory use.

Manual Fiber Optic Tunable Filters – 0.15nm Linewidth

Agiltron’s Manual Grating-Based Fiber Optic Tunable Filter provides a simple way for us to adjust the center wavelength of a narrow band over a wide band. Wavelength tuning is achieved by rotating a grating using a micrometer. Based on our proprietary optics, Agiltron offers extremely low insertion loss, high stability, polarization-independent operation, and high off-band suppression. It is tunable continuously over a wide spectral range. The device presents the most cost-effective solution for OEM applications, from fiber optic networks to fiber sensing interrogation.

MEMS Tunable Fiber Optic Filter – 1.4nm Linewidth

Agiltron offers Fiber Optic MEMS Tunable Filters with central wavelengths of 1060nm, 1310nm, 1550nm, and 2000nm. It is tunable continuously over a spectral range of up to 80nm at a speed of about 80ms. The wavelength tuning is actuated by driving a rotating MEMS mirror that is optically coupled with a grating and a dual fiber collimator. It is conveniently controlled with a user-friendly GUI and USB or RS232 and I2C control interfaces.

MEMS Tunable Fiber Optic Filter – 0.4nm Linewidth

Agiltron offers Fiber Optic MEMS Tunable Filters with central wavelengths of 1060nm, 1310nm, 1550nm, and 2000nm. We are tunable continuously over a spectral range of up to 80nm at a speed of about 80ms. The wavelength tuning is actuated by driving a rotating MEMS mirror that is optically coupled with a grating and a dual fiber collimator. We are conveniently controlled with user-friendly GUI and control interfaces of USB or RS232 and I2C.

Electrically Tunable Fiber Optical Filters – Etalon-Based

Based on our proprietary thin film cavity filter technology, we produce Fiber Optic Tunable Filters with central wavelengths ranging from 1060nm to 2050nm. We can also create filters with other central wavelengths. They are tunable continuously over a wide spectral range of up to 100 nm with a peak bandwidth of 1nm. Filters with longer central wavelengths have a larger tuning range. The wavelength tuning is actuated by driving a built-in precise stepper motor through the interface of USB or RS232. Our unique high reliability and low insertion loss design present the most cost-effective solution for OEM applications, from fiber-optic networks to fiber sensing interrogation.

The current standard configurations are in volume production, thus providing low-cost benefits. Filters with other wavelengths are available but require an extra cost to produce.

Manual Tunable Fiber Optical Filters – 3nm Linewidth

Based on our proprietary thin film cavity filter technology, we produce Fiber Optic Tunable Filters with central wavelengths of 1060nm to 2050nm. Another central wavelength can also be made. They are tunable continuously over a wide spectral range up to 100 nm with a 1nm peak bandwidth. A longer center wavelength has a larger tuning range. The wavelength tuning is made by manually rotating a precise micrometer. Our unique high reliability and low insertion loss design presents the most cost-effective solution for OEM applications from fiber optic networks to fiber sensing interrogation.

The current standard configurations are in volume production, thus having low-cost benefits. Another wavelength is available that requires extra cost to make the filter.

How To Measure The Insertion Loss of A Tunable Optical Filter

The filter only works in the specific range, beyond this range extra peaks may show. These peaks can be block with special order.

Please follow these instructions to do an optical insertion loss test:

  1. Connect a broadband fiber-coupled laser source to OSA, sweep one time over the specified range of the tunable filter, then fix the curve in Trace A as reference.
  2. Connect the broadband laser source to the fiberoptic tunable filter fiber as input, then connect the other fiber port of the tunable filter as the output to the OSA.
  3. Set OSA Trace B as ‘write,’ Trace C as ‘Calculate: B-A.’  Auto sweep Trace C from the specific range. Tune the micrometer to shift the peak at a different wavelength. Use ‘Peak search’ to record IL at a different wavelength.”
