If a customer wishes to purchase a product with performance specifications beyond or not listed on the website, it may be due to the following reasons:
- No Previous Orders: If the desired variation has not been ordered before, we can typically accommodate small changes with a reasonable Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) fee. For instance, special fiber types or unique wavelengths may require a dedicated Anti-Reflective (AR) coating run. The NRE fee will be refunded once the order reaches a certain quantity threshold.
- Cost Considerations: Some variations may be deemed too expensive to produce, often due to high manufacturing costs in small quantities rather than technological limitations. However, if a customer has the budget, we can produce it under an NRE arrangement. We will perform design, prototyping, and provide a detailed report of the results, allowing the customer to decide whether to proceed with the production. If customers can provide application details, that may help us find the most suitable approach. We have a strong track record of meeting anticipated specifications under NRE agreements. Additionally, we have experience collaborating with government labs and agencies to develop and launch new products with unique attributes through research funding.
