The TUNE PM 300 Splicer is an innovative solution to fusion splice polarization maintaining fibers, providing substantial cost reduction and reliability improvement. The ease of operation has been proven in production environments. The design adds two manual rotary fiber holders to a high-resolution fusion splicer with custom software so that the PM axes can be aligned manually while fiber to fiber alignment is automatic. In operation, the axes of two PM fiber are manually aligned by rotating the holders while visually matching the patterns on the display, which is similar to the operation principle of expensive and less reliable conventional PM splicing machines. Once the axes are aligned and locked in position, the fusion splicing will then be performed automatically with pushing a button.
